Green Island
Due to its popularity a resort eventuated (obviously keeping in line with strict environmental policies) on 1/3 of the island leaving the rest of the island with vegetation and of course white tropical sand. When visiting boardwalks enable you to walk across the island through the vegetation with a “informative trail” to answer your questions (well some of them at least!). You can also walk around the whole island (but do check the tides) and look for turtles, blue spotted stingrays and lots of schools of fish and many interesting shells and little critters. Watch the many seabirds dive into the crystal clear water catching the plentiful fish.

Marineland Melanesia
If you are interested in crocodiles you can visit Marineland Melanesia – a small locally owned family business which is very popular. It not only has a croc feed (which fits in with Ocean Free’s schedule) but you can view Green Turtles, Hawk Billed Turtles and other coral life up close! It also has artefacts from around the region which the family have collected over the years.
Entry is $15pp.

Other acitivities available on Green Island:

  • Glass Bottom Boat - $10 Per Adult, $5 Per Child
  • Semi-submersible - $18 Per Adult, $9 Per Child

Please Note: prices are subject to change without notice. The above is only a guide.

Introductory Scuba Diving
Our crew have a reputation for turning visitors frightened and nervous into raving fans of the Great Barrier Reef through our introductory dive program. Many people tell us it is the most amazing experience of their life!

Introductory scuba diving is diving for which you require absolutely no previous experience — you don’t even need to know how to swim!!

All you have to is breathe and look at the fish — now we’d imagine that you can do that!!

Obviously there is slightly more to do than that, but not much. Our experienced dive instructors will give you a comprehensive dive brief regarding the equipment, hand signals, diving procedures and answer any questions you may have enroute to the reef.

You will be required to fill out a dive medical questionnaire (supplied on the boat) to ensure that you have no medical problems that are contraindicated to diving. Certain medical conditions may stop you from diving, and if you are uncertain if this will affect you please enquire when you make your reservation.

On arrival at the reef you are put into small introductory diver groups. The maximum group size on Ocean Free is 3 divers per instructor; 2 divers per instructor if you are a bit nervous and if you’re absolutely terrified we will even offer you 1:1 instruction!! The only company to offer such small numbers as well as friendly personalised instruction.

Once in the water and comfortable you will slowly descend into a beautiful coral garden 3-5m below. The instructor will have a hold of you the entire time so you can enjoy the whole experience safely.

Now if you’re still uncertain Ocean Free's policy allows you to try the dive and if you don’t like it you get out and don’t pay a cent. Now that’s an offer you can’t refuse!

Come and give it a go — you won’t be disappointed!

Your Introductory Dive Includes:
* Scuba diving lesson
* All top quality scuba diving equipment (including Wet/Stinger Suit)
* 30 minute hand-held scuba dive

Certified Diving
Green Island is the perfect place to do couple of dives and experience all that the Great Barrier Reef has to offer. Whether you have just started or have done several hundreddives in your career we will show you a great dive.

Pinnacle Reef
One of the best kept secrets on the Great Barrier Reef! Come introduce yourself to our black tipped reef sharks (totally harmless) batfish, spangled emperor and turtles to mention just a few of our residents. Meander around large “bommies” (coral outcrops) which arise from 12m below to just below the surface.

Laze around the beautiful coral gardens, great for a safety stop and amazing for your first dive if it has been a while since you were in the water (yes, you can still see the surface!!)

Your Certified Dive Includes
* Detailed Dive Brief on location and procedures
* Certified Dive Guide (Dive Master or Instructor)
* State of the art diving equipment (Aqualung/Scubapro)

Please note we accept Visa and Mastercard and the credit card fees are:

Amendments
Please check the terms of each vessel to see whether amendment fees apply. Please also note that for some vessels an amendment is treated as a new booking and the rate current at the time the amendment is made to recalculate the entire booking amount (not just the days changed). In the case of boat rental/yacht charter, if the hire or number of days is increased, an additional deposit may be required, while reduction in rental periods or price may reduce the total, but the deposit amount will remain unchanged.

The number of passengers allowed is indicated next to each vessel on this website. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A boat or trip supplier can refuse to hire a vessel to any person who is in their opinion unfit to skipper or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.
