Classic Yachts

Classic yachts are monohull yachts but of an older vintage often made from wood. Due to the classic lines and low roof, there is less headroom inside these yachts. Due to the sail configuration of a classic yacht, more crew are normally needed onboard to assist with hosting the multiple sails and additional duties. A classic yacht charter vacation is ideal for traditionalists!

There are some beautiful modern day classic yachts that have been built in recent years some built from wood but most built from aluminum. The designer Hoek Design Naval Architects has designed some fabulous vessels; for example Atalante, a 90 ft modern day classic built in 2009. The stunning Superyacht Meteor built by Royal Huisman in 2007 is 169 ft/52 m in length and offers luxury accommodation for 6 guests in 3 staterooms with a crew of nine to look after you. Superyacht Erica XII designed by Hoek Design Naval Architects and built by Vitters Shipyard was launched in 2010, she is 172 ft in length built in aluminum with a classic design hull but fitted with a Bermudian Rig instead of the classic Gaff Rig.

These classic yachts not only look beautiful on the outside, but inside their interiors are ‘classic beauty’ with an abundance of wood and traditional style furniture, many of which are antiques.

There have been several modern day J Class Yachts built in recent years that are now referred to as Supers Js, namely Hanuman built by Royal Huisman and Rainbow built by Holland Jachtbouw.

Some of these beauties are also available for charter during classic yacht regattas like the St Barths Bucket held at the end of March, Antigua Classics Week held in April, and Les Voiles de St Tropez held at the end of September.

Columbia is a beautiful 141ft modern Classic Yacht was built in 2014. She has a light and airy yet traditionally styled interior with white panelled walls. Offering accommodation for 8 guests in 4 guest suites she has a compliment of 8 crew. She is based in Newport during the summer months and available for charter in New England and during the winter months she is available for charter throughout the Caribbean. Black Swan

Black Swan (previously named Brynhild) is a beautiful 133ft Classic Yacht built in 1898 by Camper & Nicholsons and she was recently sympathetically refitted in 2016. She has a stunning traditional wooden interior with with wood panelled walls. Offering accommodation for 10 guests in 5 guest suites she has a compliment of 5 crew to look after you. She is based year around in Var in Southern France so she is ideally located for charters to St Tropez and along the French Riviera. Eros

Eros is an elegant 115ft Staysail Schooner Classic Yacht built in 1938 by Brooks Motor Craft of Lowestoft in England and she was recently refitted in 2016. She has restored original teak panelling in the saloon and her guests suites have light and airy white panelling walls. Offering accommodation for 8 guests in 4 suites she has a compliment of 5 crew. She is based in Newport during the summer months and based in Antigua and available for charter throughout the Caribbean during the winter months.
